The Canon EOS R5 is a full-frame mirrorless camera built for photographers and filmmakers who need high resolution, fast shooting, and strong video performance in one body. Its 45MP CMOS sensor delivers detailed still images and supports internal 8K RAW video recording, while the DIGIC X processor keeps overall performance fast and responsive.

Speed and Low-Light Shooting

The R5 can shoot up to 12 fps with the mechanical shutter or 20 fps with the silent electronic shutter, making it well suited for sports, wildlife, events, and other moving subjects. Its ISO range of 100-51200 can be expanded to ISO 102400, giving you more flexibility when working in low or changing light.

8K and 4K Video

For video, the EOS R5 records DCI 8K RAW internally at up to 30 fps and 4K at up to 120 fps in 4:2:2 10-bit with Canon Log. HDR-PQ recording is also supported, along with clean 4K output through HDMI at up to 60 fps. Dual Pixel CMOS AF remains available in high-resolution video modes, helping maintain smooth, accurate focus while recording.

Subject Tracking and Autofocus

Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF system uses subject recognition to track people and animals throughout the frame. Eye, face, and head detection help keep subjects sharp, making the R5 especially useful for portraits, wildlife, action, and fast-paced shooting.

For video, Movie Servo AF provides smooth focus transitions between subjects or different distances in a scene. Tracking sensitivity and AF speed can be adjusted, and Touch AF allows you to shift focus simply by tapping a subject on the rear screen.

5-Axis Image Stabilization

The EOS R5 was the first EOS camera to include 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization. It can compensate for up to eight stops of camera shake in compatible setups, making handheld shooting easier at slower shutter speeds. The system can also work together with optical stabilization in compatible RF lenses and adapted EF lenses for additional stability.
