The New Standard Prime Lens
This compact 35mm prime is a workhorse for everyday shooting. The f/2 aperture gives you enough light for indoor work and lets you separate your subject from the background when you want that shallow depth of field. Two aspherical elements keep distortion minimal and sharpness throughout the frame — important if you're shooting architecture, street, or documentary work.
The Super EBC coating cuts flare and ghosting, so backlit scenes stay clean and colors stay accurate. Internal focusing means the lens stays the same length as you focus, and the stepping motor is genuinely quiet — useful when you're recording video or working in situations where silence matters. Weather sealing handles rain and dust without fuss.
At 170g and under 46mm long, it balances nicely on X-Series bodies without adding bulk. The 9-blade rounded diaphragm renders bokeh smoothly. Focus range starts at 35cm, so you can get reasonably close for detail shots.
